Anna Bay - Australia

Hey, friends!

My name is Rubenson Barrios, I am Venezuelan and I have lived in Australia for 7 years. I am a technology developer and I love travel and adventure. That's why I encouraged myself to write here on Viajando Fácil to tell about my experiences in this beautiful country.

Today I want to share a plan near Sydney, a very interesting place to visit here in Australia: Anna Bay.

Anna Bay is a suburb near NewCastle, approximately 2.5 hours from Sydney. It is a place with a beach and dunes, where you can do a variety of activities.

Among the activities in this region, sandboard stands out, as the dunes are one of the largest in this hemisphere. Sandboarding is an activity for the whole family, it can be done in a group and by people of all ages, they should only be willing to relax and get carried away by this exciting experience.

Arriving at Anna Bay you will find the sea on one side and the dunes on the other. There you will see a section where the equipment is rented for sandboarding and you will find the transport that takes you to the dunes.

Remember to hydrate well beforehand, as there are no facilities around the dunes. However, companies that offer sandboarding service always give free bottles of water. This activity is worth between 20 and 30 Australian dollars, depending on the company you hire and if you are a student, remember that around here, students have a discount, so ask for yours.

I also recommend that you wear very comfortable clothes and bring an extra change of clothes, because they will fill with sand everywhere.

In addition, it is important to bring a bathing suit, as, as I said before, there is a fascinating beach called Stockton Beach. After sandboarding, you will probably feel like relaxing on the beach or taking a nice shower with cold water (usually in Australia the sea water is cold).

From the dunes you can see Stockton Beach.

It's worth enjoying the sandboard with this fantastic look.

Activity for the whole family and friends.

Other alternative activities you can do here are: surfing, camel riding on the beach, quad biking in the dunes or if you have a 4 × 4 vehicle you can enjoy this magnificent place even more.

As for camels, it is a quieter and different activity. Take a walk on the beach, you can take pictures and feel like in the Sahara. If you have never ridden a camel, in Anna Bay you will have this opportunity. This activity costs 30 Australian dollars and lasts approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

Visiting Anna Bay in one day is perfect. There are several types of activities for all tastes and best of all, there is no age restriction. Everyone can enjoy.

There are several ways to get to this place in Sydney. You can go by train from Central Station and then take a bus: the average journey is around 4 hours.

Or you can go by car. It is the most recommended option because it takes about 2h25min and you can enjoy the tour with beautiful scenery and, as Stephania Cuellar commented in her publication of kangaroos and koalas, you can stop by the road and take a selfie with these adorable animals.

Another option, if you are in other parts of Australia, is to reach NewCastle Airport and take a bus to Anna Bay. Either way of getting there depends on where you are located and what is most convenient for you.

If you stay late in Anna Bay, you can watch the sunset or if you take the bus remember to check what time the last bus leaves so that they can return smoothly.

If you are driving, you can decide whether you want to return or stay in the campsite. This is another option if you want a more relaxed plan, don't be in a hurry to come back and enjoy camping with friends. There are always places to camp, but if you are in high season it is best to make a reservation in advance.

The dunes can be visited at any time of the year: summer, winter, spring or autumn. All I suggest is that you look at the weather forecast carefully, so that you are sure to have a better experience and be well prepared.

I really recommend you to visit Anna Bay, it is worth it and you will not regret it!
